Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Blackwelder Riley, 91, of Concord, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018. Lib was born February 20, 1927 in North Carolina to the late Ralph and Viola Blackwelder. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Tom Riley; brother, Gene Blackwelder; and grandson, Buster Stockton.

Lib was a member of Pitts Baptist Church, Concord. She was very active in the senior clubs and was lovingly known as the candy lady. Lib loved watching old westerns, soap operas and gameshows.

She was also a big fan of NASCAR and the Panthers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lib will be dearly missed and forever loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Riley; granddaughter, Monica Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Edwin (Amanda) Stockton, Zach, Emily, and Grace Robinson, and Brianna Stockton; great-great-granddaughter, Nellie; and her friends in the Senior Citizens Class at Pitts Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 10:45 am, Monday, October 15, 2018 at Pitts Baptist Church, Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 am at Pitts Baptist Church, officiated by Rev.

B. Scott Davis. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Memorial donations may be made to Pitts Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 140 Pitts School Rd.
