Mary Ellen Allen April 22, 1931 – February 11, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mary Ellen Hardesty Allen, age 87, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at Hosparus Health – Norton Pavilion in Louisville, KY. Mary was born April 22, 1931 in Meade County to the late Floyd Lawrence and Mary Beatrice Payne Hardesty. Her husband, Robert Verland Allen, also preceded her in death.

Mary was a CNA and retired from Medco, later Brandenburg Nursing and Rehab, having served their residents for 38 years. Her heartfelt compassion brought comfort and hope for many residents and their families. Those who had limited family members visit, she would often shop for, getting them clothing, food, and gifts.

She was a member of St. John the Apostle Church and loved to grow her flowers and quilt. She is survived by her children: Gary W. (Millie Druen) Allen of Elizabethtown, KY and Charles Gregory (Debbie) Allen of Brandenburg, KY; four grandchildren: Steven (Ginny) Allen, Todd G. Allen, Jaime Allen (Judy Stonecipher), Kyle Allen (Kristen Horrell); a very special great-granddaughter, Lexi Allen; and great-granddaughter, Carrie Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM EST at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Brandenburg.

Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM EST from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home and Saturday after 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus Health, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.
