Obituary for Mary Ellen Bacon Mary Ellen (Sanders) Bacon 90, 1928-2018 Mary Ellen died on Saturday May 27th, 2018 at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, Colorado, where she had suffered from congestive heart failure. She will be cremated in Loveland, Colorado and interred at the Ogallala Cemetery in Nebraska alongside her parents and husband, Richard M. Bacon. Mary was born on March 15th, 1928 in Gurley, Nebraska to Horace and Lelia Faye (Messing) Sanders.

She grew up in Ogallala and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member PEO and a Queen of Job’s Daughters of Ogallala.

She was a very proud American and loved her country. She was the welcome lady in Ogallala for many years and even today people would say that they remember when she welcomed them to town. Her smile was her trademark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Lelia Sanders and adoptive parents, Henry and Mary (Sanders) Chalker. On June 8th, 1947, she married Richard M. Bacon in Ogallala. They made their home in Ogallala and had four children.

In June of 2016, she moved to Loveland, Colorado and lived with her son Ric and his wife Teresa before moving into a retirement village at Good Samaritan as an independent living resident. She met countless very special new friends while living there. Everyone adored her so much and the staff at the dining room always called her Miss Mary.

They would always come over and visit with her for a minute or so, just because they thought that she was special. It was not uncommon to see her going down the hallways for one reason or another with a big smile on her face. It seem like everyone knew her and would always ask her how she was doing.

She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo with her friends. Survivors include her sons, Richard & Teresa, Michael & Karen, Roger, and a daughter Janet & Dennis Culver. 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and her dog, Kelly, who was very special to her.

A memorial has been established in her memory for designation by the family. Cards can be sent to Ric Bacon, 1244 Jill Ct. , Loveland, CO 80537 A memorial service will be held on June 12, 2018 at 10:00am at Good Samaritan Village chapel in Loveland, Colorado.
