Mary Fran Lakota (nee Brennan), age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Mary Fran is survived by her beloved husband, of 54 years, Louis Lakota Jr.; children, Louis J. (Kristine) Lakota III, Maureen (the late Bill) Krok, Michael (Jill Little) Lakota, Anton (Jody) Lakota, Timothy (Denise Duncan) Lakota; grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, Allyson Lakota, Joshua, Matthew, and Alex Lakota, Megan Krok, Morgan and Brennan Lakota; brother, John H. (the late Marilyn) Brennan; in-laws, Jerry and Marge Lakota, Mike and Barbara Ludwick, Karen and Paul McDermott; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including special friend, Karen Kurtz. Proceeded in death by her parents, John and Catherine Brennan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Louis J Lakota Sr. Mary Fran was born in Joliet, IL and raised in Merrillville, IN.

She spent almost 40 years as a nurse at Silver Cross Hospital. Mary Fran enjoyed crafts, sewing, decorating cakes and her love of strawberries was well known. She was also an avid fan of Elvis and Turner Classic Movies.

She was a member of St. Mary Nativity Mother’s Club. Mary Fran was always there for those in need. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Mary Fran’s life will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 with chapel prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet, IL for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
