Mary Joan Moore, 82, passed away at her home in Keowee Key, Salem, SC, Saturday, February 16, 2019. Joan was born and grew up in Clarion, PA and attended elementary schools there. She was the youngest of five sisters.

In 1958 she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and worked at the Pittsburgh Newspaper, The Press and later the Post Gazette for 35 years. Following her retirement her passions were world travel and playing bridge. Ms. Moore was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for 50 years.

Ms. Moore is survived by her sister: Irene Moore Gibson of Salem; nieces and nephews: William Gibson (Cindy) of West Union, SC, Sherie Gibson (Dennis Gray) of Lake Linden, MI, Douglas Gibson (Karla) of Dallas, TX, James Landolina (Michelle) of Frederick, MD and Lisa Collins of Frederick, MD; nine grand nieces and nephews and six great-grand nieces and nephews. Ms. Moore was preceded in death by her parents: John Henry and Bessie Jane Showers Moore; and three of her sisters. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will take place in Clarion, PA at the New Rehobeth Presbyterian Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Miles Way, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at their respective homes.
