David Eugene Marcengill, 66, of 836 Perkins Creek Road, Seneca, passed away, Monday, March 25, 2019, at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Westminster, SC, Mr. Marcengill was the son of the late Roy and Joyce Marcengill. He retired from Standard Textile and was a member of the Oconee Country Club.

Mr. Marcengill was of the Baptist Faith. David studied at Clemson University and spent his life a devoted Tiger. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, playing golf and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

After a life full of love, strength and courage, David will be missed. Mr. Marcengill is survived by his daughters: Christi McMahan (Scott) of Seneca, SC and Melissa West (Jason) of Cumming, GA; six grandchildren; sisters: Paula Gantt of Westminster, SC and Teresa Marcengill of Townville, SC; brother: Robin Marcengill of Walhalla, SC; and ex-wife: Pamela Marcengill. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marcengill was preceded in death by his brothers: Roy “Buster” Rufus Marcengill and Russell Buck Marcengill.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, GHS Cottingham Hospice House, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672, or to GHS Cancer Institute, 131 Lila Doyle Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
