Kayla Nicole Allsep, 31, experienced a heavenly homecoming, Friday, May 24, 2019. Born July 2, 1987, Kayla was the daughter of Linda Smith Haskett and the late Rodney Carl Allsep. She was a little sister to Amy Sanders Carver, and the aunt to two beautiful nieces, Brittney and Kyleigh, and granddaughter to her loving grandmother, Evelyn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Leon Smith, maternal grandmother, Rachel Jordan, and paternal grandparents, Carl and Nancy Allsep. Kayla was also loved and nurtured by her “second family,” Ray and Patricia McAlister, and their children Miranda, Matthew and Bradley. In addition, Kayla also had many cherished friends and family members with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.

Kayla grew up in Seneca, where she attended both church and school. She accepted Jesus into her heart in elementary school, and was baptized at Earles Grove Baptist Church. Living a Christian life and focusing on the scripture remained important to her throughout her life.

Kayla attended Seneca High School, where she participated in the strings band. She was a very talented musician, with a God given talent that allowed her to play many instruments and bless both her family and friends. After graduating from high school, Kayla went on to attend Tri-County Technical College and pursue a career in nursing.

After receiving her degree, she continued to study and build her knowledge to further her nursing career. Again, she followed God’s direction and used her nursing career to serve and bless others. She was employed with Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA, where she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Not only did she love and provide for all of the babies and families she encountered, but showed special compassion and provided clothes for the babies she cared for without mamas. She knew this was her calling, and dedicated much of her time and energy to these tiny infants. Kayla loved her family, and she used her gift for cooking to treat them and share on special occasions.

This past Mother’s Day, she was busy in her mama’s kitchen, preparing and celebrating with those she loved. Kayla demonstrated a life well lived by spending time with those she loved and sharing special days with them. As you can see, Kayla was all about showing love and compassion in both her personal and her professional careers.
