, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at her residence. She was born on March 7, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, Va. to the late Nannie Walton Leftwich and the late William Leftwich.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Preston Dickerson. Mrs. Dickerson… Read More » will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved all the kids of the neighborhood and treated them as her own kids.

Mrs. Dickerson was a faithful member of Union Hall Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She loved to sing and worship the Lord. Mrs. Dickerson is survived by her daughters, Alice Dickerson of Chatham, Nannie Tarpley of Axton, Va.

, Kathy Emahiser (Michael) of Prince George, Va. , JoAnn Gravely (John) of Martinsville, Va. , and Tammy Clark of Chatham; her son, John Dickerson of Chatham; as well as Paul Dickerson and Paula Petty, both of Danville, who she raised as her children; her sister, Geneva Toller of Chatham; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dickerson was predeceased by her daughter, Pricella Dickerson; her sisters, Vertel Leftwich, Classie Tarpley, Lucille Millner; her brothers, Willie Leftwich, Louis Leftwich, Charlie Leftwich, and Virgious Leftwich, as well as one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Union Hall Baptist Church, 6860 Strawberry Road, Chatham, Va. with Pastor Leroy Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt.
