Mary Lois (Greenwell) Hartig, 98, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the West River Health Campus. Mary was born September 2, 1920 in Uniontown, KY to the late Joseph Arch and Margaret Regina (Alvey) Greenwell. She had worked at Sears and retired as the assistant manager at the westside license branch just a few months before her 80th birthday.

Mary had lived at the West River Health Campus for the last five years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a member of a garden club. Surviving Mary are three daughters, Karen Margaret (Tom) Fegan of Dayton, OH, Diana Kay (Gary) Lynn of Evansville and Kathleen Marie (Tom) Schmitt of Seattle, WA; one son, Gary L. (Donna) Hartig of Evansville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Burkart, Timothy Wayne Hartig, Scott Allen Hartig, Amy Elizabeth Schumacher and Carrie Nicole Lynn and five great grandchildren, Ryan, Emily and Matthew Burkart and Harrison and Edward Hartig.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death her husband, Herbert Hartig in 1975; by a son, H. Wayne Hartig in 2013 and by a brother, Joseph Greenwell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jeff Long officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary’s caregivers at West River for their love, care and compassion.
