Charles B. James, Evansville, born July 29, 1949, passed away at his home March 8, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryce and Jeanne (Ford) James and other relatives. He is survived by his cousins Charleen Moore, Patrick Moore (Reanna), Cameron Moore, Brandon Moore – Evansville; Jackie Moore – Denver, CO; Marietta Loos, Leeann Pond – Evansville; Sonny Treadway (Brenda) – Johnson City, TN; and his aunt Nancy James.

There’s only one way to write Charlie’s obituary in a way he would have agreed with – short (but not necessarily sweet). He spent his life in love with antiques, NPR, music, art, literature, women, and friends – most notably, friends at the Peephole Bar and Grill. He was the former owner of Rowe’s Imports.

Charlie treasured conversation with those he liked, and snark with those he didn’t. A masterful storyteller, he could often be found talking about the history of Main Street, art, music, family, friends, and the many shenanigans in his youthful (and not so youthful) years. He lived a life worth living, and one many were fortunate to witness.

He will be deeply missed. Private grave-side services will be held at a later date and will be followed with a public wake at the Peephole Bar and Grill in Evansville, IN. Until then, we ask that you raise a Miller High Life in his name.
