Dorothy Jean “Jeanie” (Dunn) Luigs, 76, of Evansville, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Linda E. White Hospice House surrounded by her family. Jeanie was born November 25, 1942 in Enfield, IL to the late Francis and Rosa (Belva) Dunn. She was a graduate of Ridgway High School and Lockyear Business College.

She worked for Cynthiana State Bank and also for Old National Bank, where she retired from. Jeannie was an active member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Club. She was also a member of the Armstrong Recreation Center, the St. Ann’s Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John and the TASK group at St. Paul’s UCC in German Township.

Jeanie enjoyed music, reading, traveling and attending their grandchildren’s activities. She and her husband Bill were very involved in their grandchildren’s lives and helped as caregivers for their granddaughter, Sydney. Surviving Jeanie are her husband of 56 years, William L. Luigs; four daughters, Patti Luigs of Decatur, GA, Kristi Marquis, Marti (Darin) Knight and Mandy (Tim) Ritzert, all of Evansville; one son, Larry (Jenny) Luigs of Evansville; a sister, Mary Beth Drone of Friendswood, TX; ten grandchildren, Samantha, Kyle and Jamie Luigs, Jessica Marquis, Julia, Nolan and Ava Knight, Sydney, Elizabeth and Ben Ritzert; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and John Dunn. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 18, 2019 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 2:00 PM. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at St. Wendel Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Wendel Catholic Church, the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center or to the Linda E. white Hospice House. Condolences may be made online at www. pierrefuneralhome.com.
