Mary Lou Godwin, age 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Tuesday evening, September 18, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Mary Lou was born in Ridgeway, Ohio February 11, 1936, to the late Harold J. and Thelma (Watts) Rumer. She married William E. “Bill” Godwin November 9, 1951 in Huntington, Indiana, and he preceded her in death September 19, 2005.

Mary Lou was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Godwin, a daughter, Debra Thompson, brothers Lloyd and Richard Rumer and a sister, Louise DeLaughder. Mary Lou is survived by her son, Richard (Lori) Godwin of Powell, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Thompson of Plainfield, Indiana, Heather (Troy) Miller of Bellefontaine, and Jason (Amy) Godwin of Powell; nine great-grandchildren, Hillary Hernandez, Isaac, and Cooper Thompson, Shawn, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Mason Miller, Luke and Ben Godwin; a brother, Warren (Norma) Rumer of Bellefontaine and several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou enjoyed reading.

She was the true definition of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother – she cherished the time spent with all her family. A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 4 P.M. at the First Church of God in Bellefontaine with Pastor Gary Brown officiating. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the service.

A private family burial will take place in the Hale Cemetery. The family was assisted with the arrangements by the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
