Obituary for Mary Lou Weidenbener MaryLou Kuhn Weidenbener, 90, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2018 in Bloomington, Indiana. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, the only child of Mathilda and Edwin Kuhn. She was a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and attended Indiana University where she earned her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a masters degree in Guidance and Counseling.

She taught mathematics at Delaware School and was the Math Department Chair at Reitz High School in Evansville. In 1958, she married her husband of 57 years, Edward Weidenbener, DVM. They raised three children in Evansville; Anne (Tony) Czechorski, of Prospect Heights, IL, Rick (Lisa) Weidenbener, of Bloomington, IN and Sue (Chuck) Foltz of Reno, NV.

Her grandchildren are Erich and Matthew Weidenbener and Katie, Kevin and Ryan Foltz. MaryLou worked tirelessly volunteering for her parish, Good Shepherd, where she was a founding member. She was also a founding member and officer of Good Shepherd’s first School Board.

She served many years on Parish Council. She could be found at Memorial HS pancake breakfasts, paper sales and any other project that needed volunteers. MaryLou went back to work after the children were grown as the Senior Guidance Counselor at Memorial HS.

Countless students have her to thank for guiding them through the college application process. Mary Lou was also a docent at the Reitz Home which she thoroughly enjoyed and remained active in her college sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, well into her 80’s. In 2007 MaryLou and Ed left their beloved home in Evansville for Meadowood Retirement Community in Bloomington,IN.

Going back to her alma mater and having a plethora of sporting events at her fingertips was true happiness. Mary Lou was a season ticket holder for five Indiana University varsity teams once she moved to Bloomington. She was proud of being a continuous IU football season ticket holder since 1955 and attended the Hoosier’s 1968 Rose Bowl game.

In Bloomington she was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she served as a member of the hospital and home bound ministry and worked on various committees at Meadowood. Memorial contributions may be made to Reitz Memorial High School Scholarship Fund, 1500 Lincoln Ave. , Evansville, IN 47714.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, Friday, June 8, 2018, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 North Stockwell Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am at the church, with Father Kenneth Herr officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
