Mrs. Mary Lynn Haigler Jordan, of Fayetteville, died Monday November 5, 2018. Mrs. Jordan was born June 7, 1927, daughter of Guthrie and Nancy Lathan Haigler of Monroe, NC. She was a graduate of Fairview High School, Queen’s University of Charlotte, and followed these with graduate work at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC and research in nuclear medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Mrs. Jordan married Dr. Weldon Huske Jordan in 1953 and they settled in Fayetteville in 1954. Mrs. Jordan was a strong advocate for education and the cultural res of her community and shouldered her community responsibility by serving on several local government commissions and on local, regional, and state library boards. An ardent reader and environmentalist, she was a charter member of the North Carolina Nature Conservancy and Sandhills Land Trust, member of the Pine Needles Garden Club, active in the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, and board member of the North Carolina Botanical Gardens.

She served as a former president of the local North Carolina Symphony, and a docent and librarian at the Fayetteville Museum of Art. She was active in the Cumberland County Medical Alliance for 55 years, serving as historian. She was an avid worker in her own garden and bird sanctuary.

She was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and donor of a family fund to the Cumberland Community Foundation. Mrs. Jordan was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Weldon Huske Jordan, and is survived by son Dr. Weldon Huske Jordan Jr. and his wife Colleen, daughter Caroline and son Timothy and his wife Amber; son, Dr. Richard Montgomery Jordan and his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Natalie; son, Dr. Stuart Harrington Jordan and his wife Sheryl and sons Benjamin, Samuel and his wife Alexa, and Zane; son, Dr. Peter Manning Jordan and his wife Rebecca, daughters Sara and Julia, and son Matthew. All join in expressing deep appreciation to Mrs. Annie Grace Hudson for her decades of dear friendship and service.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m Saturday, November 10, 2018 in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, by the Reverend Jeffrey Thornberg. A reception will follow in the church parish hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1601 Raeford Road Fayetteville, NC 28305; or to the Cumberland Community Foundation, 308 Green Street Fayetteville, NC 28301.

A private family interment will be in the family plot in Cross Creek Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory of Fayetteville.
