Mary Nell Singleton, 78, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, AL. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EST on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Jamie Holloway officiating.

Private burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. Mrs. Singleton was born April 10, 1940 in Crenshaw County, AL to the late Jimmy Beard Austin and Freddie Mae Austin.

She worked for Field Crest Cannon for 39 years and was retired. Mary Nell enjoyed flowers and time with her friends but adored her family. She was a loving wife and mother and loved all her grands and great-grands.

Other than her parents she was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Sarah Ann Martin and Dorothy Joe Cassidy. She is survived by husband of 59 years, Edward R. Singleton; children, Raymond L. Singleton and wife Cindy, Barbara Marie Bradley and husband Bill, Linda Gail Shellnutt and husband Michael Todd, Brenda Mae Phillips and husband John and Penny Darlene Holley and husband Dave; siblings, Beth Sell and Jimmy Austin; grandchildren, Christopher (Kerri), Laura, Stephen (Janessa), Dustin Kyle, Abbie, Breanna (Kyle), Austin and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Will, Ryan, Shawn, and Paislee; 2 dear family friends, Derrick and Mike; several extended family members, and host of caring friends.
