Obituary for Mary Pittman Mary Elizabeth Pittman, 89, of Grifton, passed away on June 10, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center. Mary was born on December 12, 1928 in Lenoir Co., NC to Francis and Mary Brown Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Mr. Luther Pittman in 2017; both parents and five sisters and one brother.

Mary was a member of Grifton United Methodist Church, where she was active with the Women’s Society. She also enjoyed participating in the local Bridge Clubs and enjoyed a good crossword puzzle to keep her mind sharp. Mary is survived by her son; Luther “Bruce” Pittman Jr., and wife, Becky, of Grifton; three precious grandchildren, Phillip, Elizabeth and Bruce E. Pittman, all of Grifton.

She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Grifton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Hill officiating.

Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2pm at the church and other times at her son’s home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mary Pittman please visit our Sympathy Store.
