Mary Connors (nee Corkett), of Sherrill, NY formerly of Wallkill, NY, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2019 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Timothy Connors. Mary was born on January 22, 1934, Montiagh, County Galway, Ireland, to the late Thady and Julia Corkett.

Mary immigrated to the United States in 1955, and worked for NY Bell and Alexander’s Department Store. Once in New York, Mary met, dated and married Timothy “Tim” Connors on October 10, 1959. Their love for each other and life resulted in six children, three boys and three girls.

The family lived in the Bronx for 15 years before moving to Wallkill, NY where they resided for over 20 years. Mary worked at Fair-Rite Manufacturing in Wallkill, NY for over 10 years, before retiring to Florida with Tim. Mary and Tim spent many wonderful years enjoying the sun, beach and both the Knights of Columbus and the Irish American Society in Florida before returning to New York in 2014 to be closer to their family.

Although Mary lived in America for almost 65 years, she often returned to her beloved homeland, Ireland to visit with her sisters and families. Mary enjoyed a good political debate, spending time with her grandchildren, crossword puzzles and learning social media at the age of 80. Mary is survived by her six children; Michael; Mary Rob, (husband Mikael); John, (wife Kelly); Catherine Duvall, (husband Mike); Margaret Petrosino, and Patrick (wife Kara Lee); seven grandchildren, Sean, Brendan, Emily, Erin, Timmie, Julia and pre-deceased by Aidan, two great grandchildren, Cailynn, and Keegan and Mary’s sisters, Nora Stevens of Ireland and Katie Murray of Massachusetts.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul RC Church, 193 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Please sign the online guestbook and share your memories of Mary on this memorial.
