Obituary for Matthew Brian Selecman MATTHEW BRIAN SELECMAN Matthew B. Selecman, 41, St. Joseph, MO passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 in his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Matthew was born October 6, 1976 in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in the north end of St. Joseph where he attended Lafayette High School and was a great athlete with phenomenal speed.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Teresa Obermier-Nolan (Ken Nolan); father, Kenneth Selecman; four sisters, Kate Kozal, Ivy Selecman-Gaddy, Melissa Selecman, Kenna Smith; one brother, Cody Selecman; two daughters, Cheyenne Renee & Lexy; grandson, Trenton; three nieces; four nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Matthew is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Maxine Warner, Mary Obermier; grandfathers, Kenneth Selecman Sr., Edwin Obermier Sr; Uncle John Obermier. He worked in the construction industry and excelled at painting.

Matthew had a heart of gold and a giving soul. He loved his family very much. Matthew’s hobbies were taking apart and building electronics.

Early on in life he enjoyed sports and was an exceptional athlete. Matthew had a fighting passion for life. Celebration of Life services will be held from 2pm-6pm, Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Castle Bridge Event Center, 8403 U.S. 59 Hwy, St. Joseph, MO.
