Matthew D. Foster, 42, of Rock Island, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2767 9th St., Rock Island.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, is assisting the family. Matthew was born in Moline, IL on February 24, 1976, a son of Arthur and Georgia Van Zandbergen Foster.

He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1994. Matthew was a self-employed contractor in the construction industry. He learned his trade through the Rock Island Economic Growth program while attending Rock Island High School.

Over the years he had worked for Breach Menders and Native Woods, both in Rock Island. He took great pride in his work. Matthew was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Rock Island.

He loved the time spent with his family as well as his brothers and sisters in the congregation. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Georgia Foster, Rock Island; brother, Andrew (Cassandra) Foster, Hillsdale, IL; grandmother, Patricia Van Zandbergen, Rock Island; nieces, Tabitha and Ivy Pratt; and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Rebecca “Becky” Foster.
