Matthew “Matt” L. Webb, Jr., 49, of Newton died on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at MercyOne Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Newton Christian School may be left at the funeral home.

Matt, the son of Matthew and Marilee (Taylor) Webb, Sr., was born on August 28, 1969 in Spokane, Washington. When Matt was very young, the family to Newton to be closer to family. Matt graduated from Newton High School in 1988 and attended DMACC.

He worked at Burger King in Newton from the time it opened until 2016. In 2017, he began working in customer service for Windstream. Many people knew Matt around town, because he would walk to the store, to work, or anywhere he needed to go.

Matt enjoyed building models, playing video games, and watching NASCAR. Matt is survived by his mother, Marilee Willis of Shenandoah; step-mother, Kathleen Webb of Newton; siblings, Melissa Willis of Shenandoah, Brian Willis of Elkhorn, Nebraska, David (Laura) Webb of Newton, John (Laura) Webb of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Deborah (Jason) Brittain of Montour; and his nieces and nephews, Marq, Xander, Nathan, Zach, Katie, Abigail, Tucker, Jennifer, Harlie, Jessica, and Dakota. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Webb, Sr. in 2016 and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
