Obituary of Maud Turbeville Maud Stroud Turbeville died peacefully in her sleep on June 20, 2018. She was born on November 28, 1923 in Horrell Hill, SC to the late Rufus Henry and Maggie Hamilton Stroud. Maud attended Consolidated High School Number 1 (Lower Richland) and Winthrop College.

In 1942, she married Michael C. (Pete) Turbeville, Jr. and they traveled extensively throughout his Air Force career. They moved to Sumter in 1966. Maud was a homemaker and her consuming interest was her family.

She enjoyed duplicate bridge, gardening and church work. She had the gift of hospitality, and everyone was always welcome in her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, her daughter Joan Virginia Turbeville, five brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughters Gayle T. Fohner and Judith T. Abernathy, her son, Michael C. Turbeville, III and wife Dianna, three grandchildren, six step grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Church of the Holy Cross, Stateburg, SC.
