Obituary of Lily Ward Lily Pritchard Ward, 83 widow of Joseph Phillip “J.P.” Ward, Sr., died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at her home. Born in Sumter, March 22, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” Thomas Pritchard and Lena Betts Pritchard. Mrs. Ward was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church.

She retired from Korn Industries with 47 years of service. Surviving are one son, Ronnie Ward of Sumter; one daughter, Linda Ward Ridgeway (Ray) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Kenneth Allen Avin, Jr. (Rachel), of Ridgeway, SC, Kevin Keith Avin (Tiffany), Barry Lynn Ward (Mellessa), Danny Phillip Davis (Stephanie) all of Sumter; four great-grandchildren and one step-daughter, Phyllis Barrett of York, SC. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Phillip “Phil” Ward, Jr, a grandson, Brian Kirby Ward; four brothers, Herman, Gerald, Claude and Pete Pritchard.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at Crosswell Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Friday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 110 Mere Court. Memorials may be made to Crosswell Baptist Church, 604 Mathis Street, Sumter, SC 29150. On-line condolences may be sent to www.
