Obituary for Rita Dunlap (Riles) Rita Riles Dunlap, age 78, widow of Leslie Dunlap died Friday, July 06, 2018, peacefully in her home. Born in Sumter on April 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. Riles and the late Mary Virginia Riles. Rita was a 1958 graduate of Edmunds High School where she was a clarinet player in the band.

She was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple. She was also a member of the Mad Hatters of the South Red Hat Ladies club, a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Carl E. Riles Jr

She leaves behind four children, Virginia “Ginny” Yonson (Pete Hulon) of Sumter, Robin Wells (Gary Phillips) of North Myrtle Beach, Charles “Chad” Holland Jr. of Sumter, and April Reed (Jason Reed) of Princeton, NC. She was a loving and precious Nan to eleven grandchildren, Travis Yonson, Randy Yonson, Kevin Yonson, James “Jamie” Brunson (Amanda), Justin Brunson (Murray), Amber Holland, Eric Holloman, Bailey Reed, Catie Holland, Claire Holland and Claudia Holland. She was Nan and Grandma Rita to four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Myers, Shawn-Brandon Myers, Tanlynn Brunson, and Paisley Yonson.

In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she leaves behind a special niece Rose Marie “Rosie” McDowell that was like a daughter to her. Family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice-Amedisys, Aubrey Brunson, and Robby Croft for their assistance and care during her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
