Obituary for Rev. Tobias SUMTER – Rev. Carl Raymond Tobias, Jr., 72, husband of Deloris Diane Hodge passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born December 14, 1945, he was a son of the late Carl Raymond Tobias, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Geraldine Kennedy. He was the founding pastor of the Midway Baptist Church from 2000-2017. Survivors include his wife of 38 years; four sons, Carl R. Tobias III “Ray”, Joseph “Jody” Mitchum (Tammie), Charles Mitchum (Kim) and Tommy Tobias; two daughters, Sharon Poplin (Rocky) and Lisa Bellamy; one sister, Betty Jane Bradley (Richard); and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Stokes officiating. The family will receive friend from 3 – 4 p.m. Saturday at Elmore Cannon Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 4434 Wrangler Trail, Sumter, SC 29150.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
