Maura C. Hurless, 67, of Rockford, IL passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and son. She was born in Elmhurst, IL on February 6, 1951, daughter of Frank A. Kreuz and Mary (Bauer) Aldridge. Maura married the love of her life, Jeffrey A. Hurless in Rockton, IL on April 30, 1972.

She graduated Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree and completed the Juris doctorate program to become an attorney at law. Maura was a long time member… Read More » of Holy Family Catholic Church where she was greatly involved in R.C.I.A.

She was recognized as the 2002 Catholic Women of the Year and a member of the American Bar Association. Maura will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Mary Aldridge; loving husband, Jeffrey Hurless, of 46 years; son, Grant Hurless; 2 sisters, Susan (Kevin) McCoyd and Debbie (Werner) Seubert.

Predeceased by her father, Frank Kreuz; step-father, Jim Aldridge; step-mother, Charmayne Kreuz; and brother, Mark Kreuz. Many thanks to a very special friend and care taker of Maura’s, “Sue” Lkhagvasursen Mijiddorj, for her endless care and compassion for Maura. A memorial mass to honor Maura’s life will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107 with Reverend Charles Fitzpatrick officiating.

Gathering of family and friends will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to OSF Home Health and Hospice of Rockford, 5501 E State Street, Rockford, IL 61108. Following the mass, a fellowship will be held at Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, 610 North Bell School Road Rockford, IL 61107.
