Max Bledsoe, age 89, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Norman Veterans Center. He was born to Lewis and Mary Bledsoe in Willow, Arkansas and was the youngest of six children. Max volunteered to serve in the Air Force in 1948.

Shortly thereafter, he met his wife, Ann and they were married on September 2, 1949 and celebrated 68 years of marriage. Together, they had three children and traveled extensively with the military and settled at Tinker Air Force Base where he retired in 1968. He then chose civil service at TAFB from 1974 to 1984.

Max could teach anyone anything. Although he called his wife his supervisor, instructing was his passion and he was a natural leader. While in the military, he enjoyed flight training and was an ROTC rifle team coach competing across the Country.

Max took great joy in being surrounded by his grandchildren and overseeing large family gatherings. Spending the night with all the cousins at Grandaddy and Memaw’s was always a special treat and will be fondly remembered. He took great pride in all of his grandchildren, living at Lake Tenkiller, fishing and hunting.

Grandad was a great storyteller that never met a stranger. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mary Bledsoe; brother, Dan Bledsoe; sisters, Dessie Wallace, Francis Beck, Lois Womble, Faye Delamar and great-granddaughter Lauren Halliburton. Survivors include his beloved wife, Ann of Shawnee; sons, Gary Bledsoe and wife, Joyce of Wellston, Larry Bledsoe of Shawnee; daughter, Karen Bledsoe and Sam Butler of Tecumseh; 7 grandchildren, Criste Bailey, David Bledsoe, Jessica Fisher, Jayme Bledsoe, Jodi Hodge, Ashlie Staude and Jennifer Bledsoe; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
