He was born April 27, 1936 in Howard City the son of Reynold and Ella ( Gilson ) Gondre. During his working years he worked for the Village of Howard City for twenty five years as the DPW Supervisor.

He served on The Howard City Fire Dept. for 38 years as the Chief and Asst. Chief .

Max proudly served his country in the US Army and was a member of the Howard City VFW Post 3306. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and riding on the pontoon. Surviving are: Daughter in Law Jean Gondre of Newaygo A grandson Jim Greenhoe Granddaughters, Yolonda and Chrisondra Great Granddaughters Clorissa, Whisper, Kenzie, Julianna, Ian and Gabrielle And a great great grandson porter.

And many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Chris, son Lee and sisters Vera, Ruby, Ruth, Irene and Barb and a brother Bud. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Terri Cumins officiating with burial in the Reynolds Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Friday evening from 6-8 pm and prior to services on Saturday.
