Mazza David Daniell Jr, August 12, 1928 — January 13, 2019

Mazza David Daniell, Jr., of Marietta, Georgia passed away on January 13, 2019. He was born on August 12, 1928 in Marietta and grew up in Atlanta, then moved back to Marietta in 1978. In Atlanta he attended Joe Brown Junior High School where, after only a few weeks in a print shop class, he decided on his life’s work.

He was many things to many people but as to his vocation, he often said he was like Benjamin Franklin – a printer. He graduated from Tech High School in 1947. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked for the Atlanta Journal Constitution for over 33 years and retired from there on January 1, 1990.

He was a longtime committed member of Olive Springs Baptist Church and continued his commitment when they became the Olive Springs Campus of Eastside Baptist Church. He was frequently described by the pastor as “Randy’s right arm”. He never married, but was a devoted son and brother and beloved uncle to several generations of nieces and nephews.

He lived his life for others, first for God, then for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Mazza David Daniell, Sr. and Mae Shirley Daniell, sisters, Margaret Daniell Cole and Anne Daniell Horton, brother Robert M. Daniell and honorary brothers Travis F. Turner, James B. LeMaster and Thomas J. LeMaster. He is survived by his sister Shirley Daniell Agan, sister-in-law Yvonne Micheal Daniell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home on Church Street in Marietta. Visitation will be Wednesday evening January 16 from 5 to 7. A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning January 17 at 11:00.
