Obituary for Melba Ridlehoover Hoddinott Melba Ridlehoover Hoddinott Augusta, GA – Mrs. Melba Ridlehoover Hoddinott, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 9, 2018. Melba was born in Hephzibah, on April 19, 1940. She attended Hephzibah High School where she was a star basketball forward and valedictorian of her Class of 1958.

While employed by Columbia Nitrogen, Melba received a BA in Business from Augusta State College in 1967. In March 1968 Melba and Ken Hoddinott were married. They were members of the Augusta Country Club.

In August of 1968 they moved the family to Pelham, NY. After several years they were transferred to New Orleans, LA. While there Melba was Women’s Golf Champion for three consecutive years and a top tennis player.

Upon Ken’s retirement, they relocated to The Landings in Savannah, GA. There Melba became an outstanding oil portrait artist, gourmet chef and duplicate bridge player. Melba is survived by three children: Michael Gillis, Debra Hood and Douglas Gillis; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Ken Hoddinott. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Jud C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer’s Care, 1901 Central Avenue.
