Melvin’s Obituary Melvin Douglas Burkhardt, 68, of Denton passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1950 in Memphis, TN to Melvin and Helen Burkhardt. Melvin married Mandy Burkhardt on December 29, 1979 in Nashville, TN.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era and loved his country. He had a long career in the flooring industry that crossed many continents and most recently worked as National Sales Manager for Mullican Flooring. He was a member of the Wildhorse Golf Club and was an avid traveler.

Melvin was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, uncle and cousin…their hero, their rock…and to others a great mentor and friend. Melvin was funny, caring, generous and forgiving. His faith helped him through hard times and has now led him home.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Ray Burkhardt. Melvin is survived by his wife Mandy, daughters, Christi Burkhardt and Tracey Tirl, son, Matthew Burkhardt, sisters, Sandra Madden and Marcie Phillips, brothers, Frankie Burkhardt, Kenneth Burkhardt and his grandson, Blayne Burkhardt. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday also at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Interment will follow the funeral at Roselawn Memorial Park.
