Obituary for Merle J. Smith Merle J. Smith, 96, of Olmsted Falls, passed away June 22, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Alice; loving father of Marilyn (Jerry) Fleckinger, Douglas and Daryl (Chris) Smith; cherished grandfather of Jolee (Tom) Gallagher, Jill Christman, Chelsea (Charles) Craine, Sierra, Eric (Michelle) and Erin Smith; great-grandfather of five; dear brother of the late Harold, Richard and George. Merle was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II, and was also a recipient of the Purple Heart.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd. , North Olmsted. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Cleveland Sight Center (www. clevelandsightcenter.org) and the Disabled American Veterans (www. dav.org).
