Koenig Sr. Print Michael A. “Mickey” Koenig, Sr. East Liverpool, Ohio – Michael A. “Mickey” Koenig, Sr. 79, of East Liverpool passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at East Liverpool City Hospital. Mickey was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 30, 1939 a son of the late William and Grace Strouss Koenig, Sr He grew up in Youngstown then moved to East Liverpool later in life.

Mickey worked as an assembler at GE Lamp Plant in Youngstown then as a sheriff deputy for the Mahoning County Sheriff Department. He also was a fireman at the Ellsworth and Calcutta Volunteer Fire Departments. Mickey loved helping people and tinkering with cars.

Surviving are his wife Helen (Corbett) Nelson; two sons Michael A. (Kelly) Koenig II of Youngstown and Paul (Terena) Koenig of Sun, LA; daughter Robin Newbauer of Erie, PA; two step daughters Diane Beatty of Campbell, OH and Kathryn A. Bailey of East Liverpool; brother William Koenig, Jr. of Shreevport, LA; six grandchildren Jessica, Brion, Jonathan, Devin, Stephanie and Mitch; five step grandchildren Amber, Elizabeth, Brandy, Kathryn and Ashley and six great grandchildren. Friends may visit Sunday afternoon at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from noon to 2 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery of St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ will conduct a funeral service Sunday 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
