OBITUARY Michael J. Wolak January 16, 1949 – July 17, 2018 Michael J. Wolak, age 69 passed away at home on Tuesday July 17, 2018. Michael was born January 16, 1949 in Bath, New York to Phyllis J. Duma and Andrew P. Wolak. Michael was a graduate of Watkins Glen High School and attended Corning Community College.

He retired from Schuyler County as the Tax Assessor after many years of service. He was also a gun smith and created custom stocks and checkering. Some of the proudest moments in Michael’s life was obtaining full time employment, driving his van, target shooting and hunting deer and turkey.

Some of his favorite music included Midnight Special by CCR and Ballads by Tom Waits He was a very active and devoted member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. He enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews grow up and play college athletics. Michael also enjoyed helping his brother-in-law with his farm business.

Michael is survived by; sister Ann Wolak and her husband Edward J. Klecha Jr.; their children Katherine A. Klecha, Mary F. Klecha and Christian M. Klecha, uncles Stanley Duma, John (Barbara) Wolak and cousin-in -law Eva Russo. Also surviving are many cousins, co-workers and special friends including, Tony, Linda, John, Jim, Marcia, and Kenny; and his feline buddy Maynard. Michael was preceded in death by; mother Phyllis J. Duma and father Andrew P. Wolak; sisters and brothers Frances M. Wolak; Mary J. Wolak; Joseph P. Wolak; Andrew P. Wolak; John Wolak and Edward Wolak.

Visitation for Michael will be Monday, July 23, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Link at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, New York 14891. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. Burial for Michael will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
