Memorial services for Michael “Mike” Vest, 66, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Mr. Vest was born March 14, 1953, in Lufkin, Texas, the son of Hubert Edward Vest and Betty Ann (Perkins) Vest, and died Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Lufkin.

Mr. Vest enjoyed hunting and loved to be outdoors taking in the scenery. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off of his back. Mr. Vest was a lifetime NRA member.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hebert of Crockett; daughter and son-in-law, Marci and JD Wise of Huntington; granddaughter, Lily Wise of Huntington; brother, Randy Vest of Lufkin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Vest was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Mark Vest. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Vest, Kelly Vest, Preston Vest, Brett Raines, Braden Raines, Mark Beck, Sean Wetherell, and Matt Wilkinson.

Special memorials may be made to The NRA Foundation, 11250 Waples Mill Rd. , Fairfax, VA 22030. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
