Obituary for Michael Raymond Hagan, Sr. Michael Raymond Hagan, Sr. Michael Raymond Hagan, Sr., 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 15, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Bell and Reverend Daniel Hagan.
Burial will follow the service at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Orange, Texas, on September 30, 1947, he was the son of Wilbert Otis Hagan and Dorothy Julia (Taylor) Hagan.
Michael worked as a Diesel Mechanic, proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was Purple Heart Recipient. He was a member of numerous organizations including the present Commander of Chapter 236-Disabled American Veterans in Vidor, TX, and past Commander, Secretary, and Treasurer of American Veterans Chapter 64 in Wilburton, OK. Michael was a lifetime member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 292 in Beaumont, VFW of Port Neches Chapter 4820, American Legion Post 49 in Orange, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 236 in Vidor, and the Purple Heart Association Chapter 727 of New Llano, LA.
He was a lifetime shareholder at the United Spanish War Veterans Colony and past board member several times in Wilburton, OK. Michael was a member of the Deer Cove Hunting Club and enjoyed spending time fishing, shrimping, hunting, and skinning hides. He spent his childhood as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Michael enjoyed sports, was an ASA Umpire, and worked the chains for the high school football games. He was an avid fan of the Houston Astros baseball team and the West Orange- Stark High School football team. He loved car racing and had a lifetime pass to N. H. R. A. drag racing.
Michael loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Dorothy Hagan; sisters, Joan Hagan and Claira Dee Baker; brothers, Walter Hagan and Larry Hagan; granddaughter, Felicity Starr Hagan; and his brother-in-law, Ed Baker.
Those left to cherish Michael’s memory include his loving wife, Ida Hagan; children, Michael R. Hagan, Jr. and wife Cynthia Naomi, of Orange and Roy Randolph Hagan and wife Donna Gail, of Orange; grandchildren, Brittany Mae Hagan, of Houston, Michael R. Hagan, III and wife Randi, of Orange, Roy “R.J.” Hagan, II, of Orange, and Serenity Faith Hagan, of Orange; great-grandchildren, Felicity Savanna Hagan and Cameron Reed Hagan, both of Orange; and his siblings, Kenneth E. Hagan, Sr. and wife Nadine, Cecilia Krivick and husband Rick, and James Hagan. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Bergeron, Michael Hagan III, Roy “R.J.” Hagan, Dylan Frazier, Orlando Reyes and Efrain Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers are Dwain Schichtel and Jack Cogle.
