Coy, Michael W. Sr., “Mickey”, 90, of East Conemaugh Borough, peacefully slipped into God’s hands, surrounded by his loving family on April 26, 2018 at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born on November 16, 1927 in Franklin Borough. Son of Merle and Marie (Kossich) Coy.

Preceded in death by his parents; step father, Lawrence LeBlond; wife of 63 ½ years, Mary Louise (Dremely) Coy; son, Dr. Michael W. Coy Jr.; siblings, Larry LeBlond and Patricia LeBlond, and daughter-in-law, Janet (Kosarych) Coy. He is survived by his sons, Steven J. married to the former Rhonda Crist, Lawrence J. married to the former Rosalie Weimer; 7 grandchildren, Mary, Helen, Carli, Emily, Natalie, Jessica, and SGT. Jason; 3 great grandchildren, Nevin, Kyra and Mason and special family members, Wendy, Alexandra, and Caleb.

Also survived many loving nieces and nephews. Mickey was a 1949 graduate of the NY School of Printing. He was a former Boy Scout Leader for over 35 years starting in NY and continuing in East Conemaugh.

Mickey was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He retired from the Johnstown Tribune Democrat, where he was employed as a printer. Mickey was past president of the Johnstown Typographical Union #137 for several years.

He was also past president, treasurer and secretary of the Tri-State Typographical Conference for several terms. Mickey was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, East Conemaugh.

Mickey enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Mickey was known to those who loved him as, “Dedo”.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Parastas will be sung at 3:30 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and continued immediately at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, The Very Rev. Arch Priest George Johnson. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
