Monique LaShawn Haman Price affectionately known to those that love her as “Pudden” or “Moe” was born on November 1, 1974 in Wilmington, Delaware to Darlene Haman Young and the late Clarence Brown. Monique was raised by Virginia and the late James Saunders Sr. in Middletown, Delaware. She felt extremely blessed to be raised as their daughter and genuinely loved being part of the Saunders’ family.
It was at this time she received the nickname of “Pudden”. This extended family allowed her to experience the love and support of her six siblings. She was touched by God and received her physical healing on May 16, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Monique would often acknowledge that she was spiritually healed in the months prior to being called home to be with her personal savior, Jesus Christ. Pudden received her early education in the Appoquinimink school district, graduating from Middletown High School in 1992. She was a proud student athlete, receiving several Varsity letters for Girls Softball.
She continued her education at Delaware State College where she studied Business Management. Monique was united in Holy matrimony to Curtis L. Price Jr. of Chatham Virginia on July 5, 2000. In 1998, Curtis and Monique began sharing the honor of raising their greatest blessings; their children, Jamia, Garfield, and Shirle’.
Throughout the years they enjoyed countless hours together supporting their children with their hobbies and attending sporting events. Her children could always count on their mother to be their biggest fan. She enjoyed spending time with her loving husband, family and friends.
Pudden was employed at Johnson Controls in Middletown for eleven years, until her health required her to terminate her employment. She was known for her strong work ethic and commitment to providing quality customer satisfaction. Those that worked with Pudden found her to be extremely skilled, knowledgeable and they often relied on her to getting things done.
She was loved in and out of JCI. She was raised in Dale United Methodist Church where she attended with her family. She took joy in being an active member of her church.
She was a member of the Dale Youth Choir, Women’s Ministry, Iron Sharpens Iron Ministry, and the Hour of Prayer Ministry. She was also a Christian Education Teacher, and attended the Laity Academy at Elkton United Methodist Church where she received a certificate of completion. Pudden enjoyed attending Sunday School as a child and this continued into adulthood.
She loved reading and studying God’s word and enjoyed sharing her testimony with others. She was a “Prayer Warrior,” she understood the importance of prayer and made it her commitment to consistently pray for her family and others. She demonstrated her unwavering commitment to prayer even when her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her father the Late James Saunders Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Sarah Haman, and Jefferson Haman “Papa Jeff;” her father in-law, Curtis L. Price Sr.; and a special cousin and friend, DeShawn “Nee Nee” Saunders. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Curtis L. Price Jr.; daughters, Jamia Saunders-Haman and Shirle’ Brown; son, Garfield Brown Jr. (Katejana); her beloved grandson, Ezra Garnett “Ezzy”; mothers: Virginia Saunders, Darlene Haman Young (Darren), and Janice Price. Sisters: Patricia Morgan-Fox (Charles), Wanda Wilson (Darryl), Chanel Haman, PaviElle Weaver (Russell).
Brothers: James Saunders Jr. (Shannon) and Kevin Rodgers. Godson, Quincy Saunders. A special aunt and caregiver Marlene Haman, a special friend and cousin Tina Saunders.
A host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Service 12:00pm, Friday, May 24, 2019 at Dale U.M. Church, 143 East Lake Street, Wilmington, Delaware 19709. There will be a viewing for 9:00am – 11:45am only.
Her burial will be in Dale U.M. Church Cemetery, immediately follow the service.
