Mrs Ann Nolan, March 17, 1927 — June 15, 2018

Obituary for Mrs Ann Nolan Ann Nolan, 91, passed away June 15, 2018. Born in Skopia, Greece in 1927, Antigone (Ann) Nolan, was one of four children. She was a strong and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all.

Known for her generosity and home cooking, if Ann wasn’t feeding somebody then she was knitting them a soft blanket or booties. She was only 21 when she immigrated to Akron, OH where her husband Tom Nolan, who preceded her in death in 2005, had moved a month earlier to lay down roots for their growing family. It wasn’t an easy journey, leaving her family behind and traveling with her infant son Chris, but Ann’s strong will and determination helped her get through.

Along with her loving husband Tom, Ann formed strong bonds within the local Greek and Macedonian community and through the St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church where they were able to keep alive their language, traditions and religion. Ann was adored and loved by all, especially her family. She will always be remembered for her loving nature, warm hugs, comforting meals and strong spirit.

Preceded in death by parents, Marco and Kata Terpin; husband, Thomas L.; brothers, Gus and Jim Terpin; and daughter-in-law, Vicky Nolan; she is survived by sons, Chris and Jim (Paula); granddaughter, Kelly (Steve) Shumaker; two great grandchildren, Jake and Emily; and sister, Sophie Minos. Services will be held 11 a.m. FRIDAY at St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church with Rev. Vladimir Bakurozhiev officiating where the body will lie in state one half hour before the service.

Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. THURSDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. , where a Trisagion service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, 555 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd.
