Obituary for Mrs Roberta Ann Seeds “Bobbie” Christman Roberta Ann Seeds Christman “Bobbie” Silver Lake- Roberta (nee Seeds) Christman left this world peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. She was born in Akron in 1918 to Robert H. and Martha (Schumm) Seeds, and received her early schooling in Boston, Mass. and Columbus, Ohio.

The Seeds Family moved to Silver Lake in 1927 and Bobbie attended opening day of The Silver Lake Grade School, where she completed her elementary education. In 1935, Bobbie graduated Cuyahoga Falls High School and then studied art at Kent State University. Bobbie Seeds and Donald Christman married in 1940 at her parents’ home in Silver Lake; they celebrated 64 years of marriage.

On Arbor Day 2009, a tree was planted on the grounds of Silver Lake School in honor of Bobbie Christman’s dedication and service to her beloved Silver Lake community. Bobbie served as a Councilwoman in Silver Lake Village, as a member of the Park Board, a past President of Silver Lake Garden Club, and on the Board of Directors of the Akron Woman’s City Club. She was a Charter member of Silver Lake Country Club, a member of the Silver Lake Historical Society, the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, the Martha Mary Guild, Aurora Club, DAR and actively served in Witan.

Bobbie volunteered many years at the Silver Lake Festival and Stan Hywet’s Ohio Mart and also was a past leader of the Silver Lake Girl Scouts. She enjoyed family, church, painting, dancing, swimming and diving, gardening, and was a great cook. Bobbie was a member of The Chapel in Akron for over 50 years.

Predeceased by her husband, Donald Charles Henry Christman; her parents, Robert and Martha Seeds; sisters and brother-in-laws, Lynnette and Fredrick Winemiller, Lenore and Richard Wallace; and son-in-law, Richard Mehl; she is survived by daughters, Roberta (Richard) Mehl, Candy Christman, Mindy Christman, and Charme’ (Mark) Ondracek; son, Donald “Chris” (Gayle) Christman; granddaughters, Bobbi (Dan) Coleman, and Wendy (Tee) Wilkins; grandsons, Christopher Mehl, Dr. Robert Ondracek, Dr. Jeffrey Ondracek, and Andrew Ondracek; great-grandchildren, Emma and Anna Coleman, Madeline and Mason Wilkins; sisters-in-laws, Betty (Rudolf) Weitzman and Grace (Donald) Mathews; cousin, Mac (Evon) Schumm and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Pastor Stephen Bucy for his exceptional and compassionate visitation, and others in the Chapel care ministries. Many thanks to Pebble Creek for their long-term care.

A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd Street, Cuyahoga Falls. Friends may call prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Billows. Pastor Stephen Bucy from The Chapel in Green will officiate with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
