Naaman “Tubby” Avis, 79 of Commerce, Michigan, formerly of Logan, passed away December 19, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born January 27, 1939 at Mt. Gay, WV, he was the son of the late Lovell Clyde and Beatrice Violet Butcher Avis.

Tubby was also preceded in death by a son Craig Steven Avis, his twin brother Raymond Avis and his other brother Bruce Avis. Born and raised in Logan, Tubby moved to Detroit area to work in the automobile industry, where he retired from Ford Motor Company… Read More » after 37 years. In retirement he was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Tubby was also a U.S. Army veteran. Those left to cherish his memory include his children Stewart Kevin Avis of Commerce, MI, Tamara Avis Spennachio of West Bloomfield, MI, grandchildren Anna Milan Spennachio, Mattea Craig Spennachio, Hunter Nolan Avis, Quin Fisher Avis, brothers Bryan Avis of Lincoln Park, MI, Leeland Avis of Evansville, TN, and Roger Avis of Wayne, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, with Pastor Randy Skeens officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Friends can call on the family on Thursday December 27, 2018 at the funeral home from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.
