Nancy Jane Gruver, 77, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 while traveling in Florida. Born April 5, 1941 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Martha (Reaser) Simon. On December 30, 1960, she married Dennis M. Gruver, who survives, and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Nancy was a 1959 graduate of Montgomery High School. She retired as an executive secretary for the Lycoming county chapter of the American Red Cross and was still active with disaster relief work. She was a member of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery, where she was very active and held the position of council president.

Nancy loved her extended family at Turkey Lake, Florida and will be missed greatly by her beloved dog Buddy whom she adored. She was chairman of Montgomery area Christmas committee, and also assisted with the Montgomery Emergency Management and Historical Society. Surviving in addition to her husband, are three children; Cheryl Neidig and her husband, Randy, of New Kingstown, Jodi Ellis and her husband, Mark, of Dalmatia, and Greg Gruver, of Montgomery; one sister, Joanne Gruver and her husband, Leslie, of Montgomery; two brothers, A. Gary Simon and his wife, Phyllis, of North Carolina, and Wayne Simon and his wife, Judy, of Williamsport; and six grandchildren, Korra and Randy Neidig, Katie and Kris Gruver, and Joshua and Amber Ellis.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son in infancy, Scott Gruver. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Rd. , Montgomery, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev.

Theodore Cockley, officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Montgomery. The family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions in Nancy’s memory be made to St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Rd.
