Naomi I. Smith, 93, of West Milton, formerly of White Deer Pike, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Milton Nursing and Rehab. Born January 14, 1926 in Sunbury, she was the daughter of the late Francis S. and Beatrice M. (Shipe) Sampsell. She was married to Asa P. Smith, Sr. for 51 years until his death January 30, 1999.

As a teenager she had worked at various hotels in Eagles Mere, and later in life had worked at Philco/Ford, Watsontown, Montgomery Mills, and McCormick’s Cleaning. She enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, reading, being outdoors, and deer hunting. Surviving are four sons: Rodney E. Sampsell, in Florida, Asa P. Smith, Jr. of White Deer; Timothy L. Smith of Milton; and Robin Smith and his wife Deborah K., of West Milton; a daughter, Rhonda L. Schack of Lewisburg; eight grandchildren: Sonja Smith, Brenda Stevenson, Sherri Smith, Susan McLean, Regan Nowell, Keith, Rachel, and Shannan Smith; seven great-grandchildren: Harley Stevenson, Wade Heidel, Morgan, Devin, Madison, and Cassandra Smith, and Makayla Spraglin Smith, and two sisters: Florence Auker in California and Ruth Bradley in Arizona.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were four brothers: Francis Eugene, Donald, Kenneth, and William Charles, and a sister, Evelyn Schmick. Family and friends are invited to call from 11:30 to 12:30 PM Monday, February 18, 2019 at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown with a graveside service following at 1:00 PM in Highland Cemetery with Pastor Erik Ireland of Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association at www.
