Mrs. Naomi Susan “Sue” Arthur, age 95, passed away February 20, 2019 at Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center. She was born January 13, 1924 in Peoria, IL to Harry and Naomi Olive (Webb) Betzelberger; and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1986. Sue took her nurse’s training as a U.S. Army Nurse Cadet during World War II; and then became a Registered Nurse following the war.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and of the P.E.O. Later she volunteered for Harbor Hospice and was a Stephen’s Minister. On September 4, 1948, she married Donald Reece Arthur, who became a Methodist pastor, serving a church in Illinois and six churches in Iowa. Following Donald’s death, in 1984, Sue moved to Muskegon to be near her son, Harry.

Survivors include six children, Nancy (Steven) Cook of Worthington, MN, Harry (Lori) Arthur, D.O. of Norton Shores, MI David (Jilla) Arthur of Minneapolis, MN, John (Kathy) Arthur of Owasso, OK, Ruth (Duane) Gissel of Madison, WI and Mark (Karen) Arthur of Austin, TX; 16 grandchildren, Chad Cook, Stacy (Michael) Smith, Sally (Anthony) Almodovar, Cory (Stephanie) Arthur, Matthew (Corrie) Arthur, Lisa (Rayno) Hall, Alyssa (Joe) Yarbrough, Aaron (Michelle) Arthur, Jessica (Jason) Varela, Luke (Chrystal) Arthur, Katie (Mark Davis) Arthur, Sarah (Tim) Lundquist, Thomas (Michelle Canada) Gissel, Noah Arthur, Rachel Arthur and Kyle Arthur and 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES for Mrs. Arthur will be held 2PM Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Central United Methodist Church (1011 2nd Street, Muskegon, MI 49440), with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. VISITATION with Sue’s family will be one hour before the service on the 23rd.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be held next week at Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan, IL. For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider Central UMC. You are also invited to sign the families Online Guest Book at www.
