Nelida C Nadeau, August 04, 1929 — January 23, 2019

UTICA/OLD FORGE – Nelida Celina Nadeau, age 89, formerly of Old Forge, passed away January 23, 2019 at the Masonic Care Community, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Clair, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Pierre and Laura (Raymond) Michaud. She married Edgar Nadeau of Lac-Baker, New Brunswick, April 15, 1947 in Clair, New Brunswick.

They enjoyed a blessed union of 56 years prior to his passing on July 22, 2003. While living in Old Forge, Nelida worked at The Ferns Gift Shop and The Forge Motel. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Old Forge and, more recently, a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills.

Most importantly, she was a homemaker who always was concerned for her family. She loved her husband and children and was very fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nelida is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Deacon Gilbert Robert and Mary Nadeau of Clark Mills; daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Stephen Pullman of Utica; grandson, Christopher (Corie) Pullman of Herkimer, and her granddaughter, Sarah Klein of Clark Mills, as well as great-grandsons, Logan and Jacob Pullman and Brady Klein; great-granddaughter, Shawna Klein; her sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and John Schonewille, of Carp, Ontario, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S.

She was predeceased by her brother, Aurele Michaud, of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The family extends their sincere appreciation to all the staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Woodgate staff, for their outstanding care of Nelida. There will be no calling hours.

Nelida’s funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Kevin Bunger, assisted by her son, Deacon Gilbert Nadeau, on Monday, January 28, at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, 7616 East South Street, Clark Mills. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Utica. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Nelida’s name be made to her parish, Church of the Annunciation.
