Obituary for Nina Geraldine Sheets Nina “Geraldine” Sheets, 82, of West Lafayette, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2018 at home in West Lafayette with family by her side. Geraldine was born in Sparta, Tennessee to Chester and Ruby Davis on February 3, 1936. Geraldine graduated in 1955 from White County High School in Sparta, Tennessee.

She married, the love of her life, Gerald E. Sheets on April 30, 1955, in Georgia, the day after she graduated from high school. Mr. Sheets was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and they moved to Anderson after his discharge. She spent her life as a faithful and loyal servant of God.

She was a member of Madison Park Church of God. She was known by many for the deep personal relationship with and her love for the Lord. She taught Sunday School for many years, moving up with the kids as they progressed.

Her favorite scripture was “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. In Geraldine’s world, there were no strangers, only people she hadn’t met. She could strike up a conversation with anyone at any time.

She worked at PayLess Supermarkets as a “demo” lady, giving samples of food as she talked to the people. She also worked for Robert Loose Funeral Home as a door greeter. Geraldine’s life work was devoted to raising her four children and caring for her grandchildren.

She loved gardening, flowers, traveling to Dauphin Island, visiting friends, outings with her sister, Joyce and brother in-law, Ed. Surviving are her sons, Dennis (Heather) Sheets of Anderson, IN and Kenneth Sheets of Clarksville, TN. Daughters Ginger (Tim) Bullis of West Lafayette, IN and Lisa (Mike) Winningham of Anderson, IN.

She also has 11 grandchildren: Alesha (Tyler) Marsh, Justin Sheets, Chelsea Sheets, Kyla Sheets, Stephanie (Matt) Sturgeon, Staci (Zachary) Omanson, Heather Leitner, Shaun Crouse, Jeremiah (Amber) Crouse, Kasey Crouse and Blane (Sarah) Crouse. She has 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters: Wilma Cope of Sparta, TN and Joyce (James) Land of Markleville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Sheets, her parents, Chester and Ruby Davis. The family would like to THANK Stephanie Carrillo and her children for adopting Geraldine as a Grandmother, for brightening her life, and taking such good care of her. A funeral service celebrating Geraldine’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00pm with visitation two hours prior to the service at Robert Loose Funeral Home with Pastor Walt Weaver officiating.
