Norma E. Weidner, age 89, passed away on September 29, 2018 at Salem Village Nursing Home. Survived by one son Gary (Gloria) Weidner; two daughters Judy (Rich) Davis and Jeanne (Merle) Hall; four grandchildren Trent (Rachel) Haley and Brett (Julie) Haley; two great-grandchildren Mason and Autumn Haley. Preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Arnold “Skeets” Weidner; her parents Otto and Emma (Schroeder) Schumm; one brother Ted Schumm and six sisters Clara Schumm, Ruth Wieneke, Laura Delosic, Lucy Hartley, Elva Smiles, and Sandy Schumm.

Born May 21, 1929, living in Joliet, Norma was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where her father was organist and principal of the school, before transferring to Our Savior Lutheran later in life. Music was her passion. She enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and entertaining at local nursing homes.

Norma’s wishes were to donate her body for research as her husband did. A memorial service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on October 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with fellowship beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norma’s name would be appreciated.
