Obituary for Norman E. Matz Norman E. Matz, 66, of South Plainfield, died on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at New Brunswick. Born in Newark and raised in Irvington to the late Arthur and Florence Matz, Norman was a former resident of Cranford for 28 years before settling to South Plainfield in 2013. After graduating from Irvington High School, he was drafted during the Vietnam War into the United States Army, where he served as Military Police throughout his enlistment.

He married his beloved wife Theone Giampino in 1972. Following his honorable discharge in 1973, Mr. Matz began his 35 year career as a Union Electrician with Local #102 out of Parsippany. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed golfing and the quality time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his beloved wife; Theone Matz, his loving children; Jill Zacios and husband Tom, Susan Sollaccio and husband Johnny, and Phillip Matz and wife Justine; his cherished grandchildren, T.J., Giuliana, Brooke, Taylor, Addison, and Michael Norman and brothers Howard, Jeff, and Ken. Also surviving is several extend relatives and friends especially his dear brother in-law and best friend Ray Giampino. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4-8pm in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.

Funeral Services and the rendering of Military Honors will take place on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 beginning at 11am in the funeral home. Cremation Services will take place privately. At the request of the family please consider making a donation further benefit those suffering from Frontotemporal Degeneration to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration Radnor Station Building 2 Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Rd.
