OBITUARY Norman Lawrence Rains April 9, 1923 – October 9, 2018 Norman Lawrence Rains, 95, passed away on October 9, 2018 in Lebanon, IL. Norman was born in Ava, IL on April 9, 1923 to Lawrence and Stella Rains. He served four years in the United States Navy during World War II.

On August 20, 1949, Norman married Lucille Decker in Harrison, AR. Together they had five children; Brenda, Debbie, Norma, Norman Jr., and Doug. Norman was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Swansea, IL; also a member of the American Legion.

Some of his favorite hobbies involved playing card games with family and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Preceding Norman in death are his parents, Lawrence & Stella; siblings: Claude Rains, Lloyd Rains, Dorothy Tinker, Betty Waters and two special son-in-law’s : Doug Ames and Jim Wamser. Leaving to cherish his memory are his Wife, Lucille; Children: Brenda (Bob) Hutchings of Chandler, AZ, Debbie Ames of Belleville, IL, Norma (John) Anderson of O’Fallon, IL, Norman (Christie) Rains JR of St. Matthews, SC, and Doug (Linda) Rains of Shiloh, IL; Grandchildren: Rob (Fran) Hutchings, Corey Ames, Patrick (Angel) Ames, Kelly (Michael) Remijan, Ryan (Michelle) Wamser, Michael (Helena) Anderson, Josh Anderson, Adam Flemming, Paul Rains, Jessica Rains, & Andy (AnneMarie) Rains; Great-Grandchildren: Austin Hutchings, Brady Hutchings, Elliana Ames, Lainey Ames, Sophia Remijan, Evelyn Remijan, Jamey Wamser, Ruthie Wamser, Murray Wamser, Stella Anderson, Johnathan Anderson, and William Anderson; and Sister, Wanda Tinker.

Memorial contributions can be made to PTOEC-Special Olympics, Wounded Warriors, or to Christ United Methodist Church.
