His parents moved to Illinois after they were married in Norfolk and moved back to the Norfolk area in 1954 when Norman was twelve. Norman graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1960 and from the University of Nebraska in 1964.

He worked in California for a while then moved back to Norfolk and was a draftsman at Nucor. He was then needed to help on the family farm and worked with his parents. Over the years, Norman was active in several community opportunities, including the Norfolk Community Theater, the Norfolk Art Center and the Norfalcon Radio control airplane club.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Norman loved to visit with people, he wanted to know how things worked, what hobbies people liked, how things were made. He asked questions of anyone he met, he was very inquisitive.

He researched subjects thoroughly and had an almost photographic memory. He was a detail man more than a big-picture person. He liked to ski, ride his motorcycle, and float down the Elkhorn River in his kayak.

Norman is survived by numerous cousins in Nebraska, Montana and California. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be missed.
