Ophelia Florence Welchel Bowling, 89, of Plainville died Thursday, May 23, 2019. She was born in Canton, GA on December 15, 1929, daughter of the late Solomon Welchel and Ovalene Cox Welchel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bowling Sr.; brothers, Lewis Welchel, Alton Welchel, Odis Welchel, Silvanous Welchel, and Jack Welchel; and sisters, Williedee Carlisle, her twin Cordelia Hightower, and Martha Jones.

She is survived by her children, Jack Bowling Jr., Fred and Brenda Bowling, Leon and Brenda Bowling, and Teresa Bowling and Michael Pickens; grandchildren, Aubrey Bowling, Jessica and Chris Pack, Jonathan Bowling, Levon and Elizabeth Bowling, Aaron and Brittany Bowling, Amy and Victor Strickland, Josh Bowling, Kendall and Kendra Pickens, Marisa and Whitney Bates, and Maci and Jared Myhand; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Welchel and Chester Welchel; sisters, Gladys Blalock and Colline Cantrell; and numerous individuals who also adopted her as their Grandmother. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gordon Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers serving are Aubrey Bowling, Kendall Pickens, Jonathan Bowling, Levon Bowling, Aaron Bowling, Jared Myhand, and Chris Pack. Honorary Pallbearers are Jessica Pack, Marisa Bates, Amy Strickland, Macy Myhand, Josh Bowling, Elizabeth Bowling, and Brittany Bowling. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 25th after 3:00 p.m. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.
